Bradford County
Bradford County remains the largest and most populated county in the Northern Tier Region. The county encompasses 1,147 square miles, with approximately 55 persons per square mile. Bradford County’s population is 62,622 (Source: US Census), dispersed among 51 municipalities.
With several medical facilities within the county, Robert Packer Hospital, Inc is the largest employer in Bradford County. In addition to its growing medical facilities, Bradford County also has a growing transportation system, including one local airport and access to US Routes 6 and 220, prominent transportation corridors connecting businesses and industries throughout the Northern Tier. Other significant industries in Bradford County include agriculture, forestry, fishing and mining (which includes natural gas extraction), manufacturing, and retail trade.
Bradford County offers much to tourists and residents through bicycling, camping and RV parks, fishing, hiking, and other outdoor interests. There are several scenic areas to camp, including Pine Cradle Lake in Rome, Riverside Acres Campground in Towanda, and Armenia Mountain in Sylvania. Mount Pisgah State Park in West Burlington is well known for their areas to swim, picnic and relax, while Sunfish Pond near Bushkill is an ideal camping location.
